  1. elisaoneal's story
    Mystery, Low key, Surprising
She follows the pyramid fairly well by having all aspects of the pyramid included while staying in order. she also captures the conflict in an interesting way.
The boy has a surprise at the end of the story to change his destiny.
Not really because I'm not an A plus student.
Give the characters names so the reader doesn't become confused, and explain the water city a little more.

    333 follow-ups

    1. Pick 3 adjectives to characterize the story's character in the story. List them.
Entertaining, anti-climactic, great diction and vocabulary.
    2. Does the writer's story follow the Freytag Pyramid? How? Please analyze the plot in brief sentences.
Yes the introduction, conflict, and climax are all seen even though there is no real resolution. Possibly the resolution could be Pilpo’s escape from the policemen by drowning.
    3. What is unique about the story or the character?
His name is unique and he has a growing hatred for police officers that causes him to leap into water hoping that he will be able to swim, even though he does not know how.
    4. Do you identify at all with this story? How?
I would be too scared to do all that Pilpo did. Getting chased by policemen and diving into water to escape would not be something I would be able to do.
    5. Give the writer 2 constructive tips that you think might help his/her story.
Possibly expand on the introduction and giving a reason as to why Pilpo doesn’t like police officers. And, describing the setting could help, whether or not it was at night or daytime.

  3. Brooke Weil's story:
    1. hard-worker, manipulative, outdoorsy
    2. Yes, her story follows the Freytag Pyramid. It starts with her family background and her inner struggle with trying to be a part of the family. Her conflict is associated with the deal that her dad made with her to read a book in exchange for a hunting trip in Africa. The resolution was going to the trip with her father, even though she lied to him about reading the book, and finally confessing that she had lied.
    3. The most unique thing about the story is how the father will try anything in order to help encourage his daughter to finish one book.
    4. I do identify with the main character in the story because all of the people in our families are extraordinary and we are somewhat normal.
    5. a) Be more descriptive of the setting of where things happen in order to given the scenario are more believable feel
    b) use more rich language

  4. Analysis of Kevin Steinhart's Story

    1. Driven, opinionated, romantic
    2. Yes, It opens with an exposition setting up the character and the setting. Then it goes on to reveal the conflict of Bobby wanting a puppy but not having enough money. He gets a job and works hard, which brings the story to a climax as he is able to buy his puppy. The story ends well, telling of Bobby's success in life after the puppy is bought.
    3. The character is a rebellious
    4. Yes, I have worked for things I want to have and it has payed off.
    5. Some of the word choices were too strong for the story, maybe use a little more casual language.

  5. Caroline:

    1) Entertaining, creative, and relatable

    2) Yes it does because it starts off with telling us a brief intro about how she is going to college, but she wants to do something crazy before she graduates. The climax is when she hits her head after streaking and the resolution is when the doctor tells her she can go home after her concussion.

    3) What is unique is that she actually does something stupid before she leaves high school. As much as many other girls want to do something funny before they leave high school, they usually don't. The character is able to relate to other teenage girls in a unique way.

    4) I can identify a little bit with the story because I think we all want to do something daring before we leave high school. There is the need to want to do something that you will always remember and never have to look back on and regret, but rather just laugh at. Whatever I want to do before leaving high school may not involve streaking, but I'm sure I'll think of something I want to do before I leave.

    5) I really enjoyed the story and thought that it was very descriptive in the beginning. Maybe there could be a little more of a transition into the climax next time instead of just hopping into it.

  6. Lexi's Story
    Adjectives
    1. unfortunate
    2. pale
    3. quirky
    Freytag Pyramid
    1. Exposition: When she introduces the setting and mentions her best friend
    2. Conflict: Cannot be as tan as her best friend
    3. Climax: When Leslie grows huge itchy welts from the tanning bed
    4. Resolution: She finds out she will never be able to tan because she is allergic to the sun

The story was unique because when nothing changes throughout a story the story is usually boring, but in this story, I think it was the way she wrote it, I found it interesting even though nothing was resolved and Leslie remained the same.

Yes, I think I identify with the story because I tried a tanning bed once and was bright red for weeks.

No tips the story was really good, maybe just to proof read it once before submitting it because there was a few careless mistakes.

  7. Drew Galtney's Short Story

    1. Realistic, follower, friend
    2. Yes it follows the pyramid. In the story we see people going out for the night. As the night goes on, Xavier sees some activities that he does not think highly of. Xavier is faced with the decision to tell the coach about his friends actions. Xavier decides to show the coach the pictice and based upon his decision Ronoldo was suspended. The following game Xavier hits the game winning 3 and Ronoldo is left on the bench wondering why he is suspended. Xavier hopes he never finds out why.

  8. James Cook's story analysis by Benjamin
    1. Authoritarian, brief, stern

    2. Yes, but there wasn't really any exposition. Boy's chewing gum in class. Stan, the teacher, doesn't likes this, so he holds a conversation with the boy once class is finished. Stan teaches the boy a lesson, telling him that he looks stupid when he chews gum. Stan solves the problem and walks out of the room content.

    3. Only Stan would compare a child chewing gum to a cow chewing cud.

    4. No, because I've never had a teacher who had a problem with me chewing gum.

    5. Be a little more detailed, and build up to the conflict more

  9. Linsdey Weills Story

    1. Frustrated, Resentful, Plotting
    2. The story doesn’t follow the pyramid to the letter, but aspects of it are very visible. A conflict arises from a hatred of reading, while a climax is never really there. The exposition details the back-story to this hatred, and a resolution is dreamed about, but never achieved.
    3. The character is full of irony. She hates the skill that she is best at. Reading.
    4. The character is constantly put under pressure to perform her skills, and I think that is very relatable.
    5. 1. Elaborate the falling action and 2. Vary sentence structure.

  10. John Montgomery's short story.

    1. Curious
    2. lazy
    3. ambitious

    2. Yes the story does follow the Freytag Pyramid, The story opens up with a conflict of working at a job the character doesn't particularly care for and builds up to the climax which is the job offer from New York. The resolution comes in when Bill Walsh admits he did not post the comment.

    3. The character is very ambitious and is seeking a job that will make him happy in life.

    4. Yes, I am willing to do what it takes to seek whats best for me.

    5. Maybe add length to the story and give the reader a little more background on the character. Use more details in describing character.

  11. realistic
    gripping
    compelling

exposition starts with introducing the characters and their age and family situation. The conflict is presented from the first sentence and is how Tom can't get out of his older brother Max's shadow. The boys go to the same college and Tom thinks it will never end until he finds out about a study abroad program. The climax is his parents choosing Max to go because he was older and had also applied for the trip. There was no real resolution and lead the reader astray. It's unique in a way that the character is faced with a problem and can't do anything to fix it because of his financial situation. I do identify with this story because I have 3 older brothers and am the youngest so I know the feeling of living in their shadows. Might want to read it over once you finish the last line needs to not have "getting". Tom is supposed to come out on top the way the story is set up but doesn't unless you're going for a gloomy and sad piece which I don't think gosshog was! Drew Galtney on Adam Goss's piece

  12. Jonathan's story:
    1. careless, partier, laid-back
    2. it follows the pyramid because the main character starts out with a normal introduction about himself and then moved into the conflict about waking his roommate up and then the climax when his roommates breathing pattern was off and he got scared, and the reader wonders if he is going to get caught or not. Then it moves farther down to the resolution by him almost getting to his bed. By the conclusion he gets in his bed and the reader thinks he made it out of the situation okay, but then sure enough his bed breaks and his roommate wakes up and its all for nothing.
    3. I think this is unique because I think its a creative story with a funny story line. The character is funny by how he struggles to stay quiet as if his life depended on it.
    4. In a way i can relate to this story because I kind of have a permanent roommate too, Brooke, and I get how that is.
    5. Honestly I dont have any tips. I think its funny with a good story line that I enjoyed reading.

    2.
Yes. The exposition describes Lily's appirence and how others view her. The conflict is that she wants to be accepted by her peers and sister and she believes that being famous and having a record deal will accomplish that. Rising action- The dream and the record producer comes to her school. Climax- she insults the producer and he leaves her. Resolution- She is still an outcast and is still losing to her sister.
