Ugandans are upset by the portrayal of Joseph Kony and his LRA's effect on their country by Invisible Children's Kony 2012 campaign. They were expecting to see their own faces, not those of white Americans who didn't seem to fully understand their plight. A free screening in Uganda ended in rioting and rejection of the Invisible Children cause in their area. The video not only did not provide enough information about the conflict, but did not seem to imply that there may be more to learn outside watching the video. IC's strategy of creating awareness initially seems harmless, but according to Ugandans, the way they market and advertise has offended many, not just in Africa. Critics have noted that simply "catching" Kony will neither be a simple matter of military force not the end of the issue, as the LRA can still continue activity without direct orders, and many captives could be killed in retaliation to detaining Kony. IC is not dispersing a full suite of information to their young followers, who are engaging in "slactivism," the passing on of links or information without really understanding the issue or getting fully behind it. Ugandan Victor Ochen of AYINET, the African Youth Initiative Network, has used his organization's website to publicly address misconceptions and express his concerns in a voice native to the area and more familiar to the problem than anyone at IC or the American Kony 2012 campaign can claim.

If North Korea decides to continue this then their people will die. Other people outside the country will die. They may end up causing a disaster that will take millions of years to clean up. Nuclear power is not something to play with because of its dangerous effects. This article give more information on how the UN plans to deal with issue. I feel i need to stay informed about North Korea so i can live in a save world. These people are lead by a leader that are in some was devious and cleaver, but puts himself in front of the need of its people. I hope to continue to follow this story and find out the minor details. The final problem is that this could happen just so a man can save is pride. Is pride really worth the worlds safety.

  3. Due to this article, I have already determined my fate. Every time an accident is my fault these days, it is always from being in the parking garage at the wrong time. I find that I am pretty careful when I'm on the road, but my parking skills and sense of direction are not the best, which gets me in trouble. This article explains that drivers under 20 are the most likely age group after elderly drivers to be involved in gas pedal accidents. Now, instead of saying I'm at fault right away, I can blame it on my brain development. We may start driving at sixteen, but it doesn't mean that we're extremely good at it. Plus, it's the government's fault for even giving us the opportunity to get our licenses at such a young age. Although I am so thankful I have my license, you can never be too sure how I will park in the garage...

This article is interesting to me because it has causes nation wide attention. This article interest me because there is so much unknown still. Whether Zimmerman killed Trayvon out of self defense is debatable. It is also debatable if Trayvon's race had anything to do with Zimmerman targeting him. The killing of Trayvon Martin by George Zimmerman has caused racial tension across the United States. This event affects me because it has racial tension across the US and it affects every citizen. Racial problems is a very sensitive subject and effects every person in a different way. This event effects the world. In almost all parts of the world people have experienced or felt some type of segregation. It is always a nation's, state's, or community's goal for no one to feel segregated and for the establishment to be united as a whole.

This article interests me because it covers an Irish problem and I am part Irish. The article covers how apparently, many irish children suffer from "hearing voices". These auditory hallucinations scare me a little because I worry that I may get them as well (being a person of Irish descent). I don't know if it would be cool or bad to have these "voices" in my head. Outside of my own circumstance, I feel that this problem is a significant one for the country of Ireland. Apparrently a large amount of children in Ireland suffer from some form of psychological problem. It could be connected to the drinking problem in Ireland. Maybe all that drinking has effected the Irish children into hearing auditory hallucinations? Whatever the case, these large percentages of children suffering mental illness is going to be a problem for Ireland in the coming years.

I really like this article because within paleontology it focuses on evolution and the idea of Pangea. I have always been interested in paleontology, so this article made me excited for college. In college, I think I want to major in geology with a speciality in paleontology, so indirectly this article made me even more excited for college. I am going to Boulder, so I know the opportunities to study paleontology will be huge, and I will be able to follow through with my life-long dream of becoming a paleontologist. It encourages me to pay more attention to current events. I have never been the type of person to keep up with the news mostly because it is completely consumed of tales filled with terror and heartbreak. This article has definitely changed my opinion of what the news can show us. I think that this article can affect the world because it shows that there are so many undiscovered things out in the world. In a way, it can give hope to many that believe that they have nothing left to explore or they are bored with their lives. I also really liked the article because it never had any comment on religion or that the evolution was the explanation for everything. I believe that are many explanations for the way that life is, and going into the paleontology field, it is comforting knowing that if I bring my Christian background I will be accepted by my colleagues and not looked down on.

This Article in Yahoo! is about the beloved candy Mike & Ike splitting up. Honestly, I never really went out of my way to go and buy Mike & Ike. I would just eat them if they were ever around. Usually, they were not around. Something interesting that always reminds me of this candy is my friends dad, Bob Mace. Coach Mace was one of my first little league coaches and every time I would be up to bat he would say, "Ike to Mike, make it Ike to Mike." Yes, this is very random. This separation is not because of a disagreement on time spent within the company, whether it be music or design. Andrew Adam Newman (writer of article) believe that both Mike and Ike are going to be just fine. There separation will probably strike the attention of younger customers and double profits by creating both "Mike" or "Ike." Now we can choose which box to grab instead of grabbing both.

  9. http://travel.yahoo.com/ideas/no-man-is-an-island--but-every-man-needs-one-.html

I found this article by Yahoo! titled: "No Man Is An Island. But Every Man Deserves One" because it is a new concept that the world has never seen before. A beer company located in Australia is leasing a 15-acre island to provide the ultimate trip for the drinkers of their beer. This island doesn't particularly affect me, however, it allowed me to reminisce on my days as a child watching WIlly Wonka. It appears that XXXX Gold is creating their own version of Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory and offering a trip to their island through a sweepstakes. This effects the greater world because the island is bringing friends together to spend quality time with one another and it is celebrating the good life, which we strive for with hard work. By leasing the island, XXXX Gold is also bring attention to the island as well as bring additional jobs and support the local community over the coming months and beyond.

  10. rom Guns.com, an article was talking about Detroit. In the article, it focuses on how Detroit is becoming one of the worst cities in the U.S. for self defense killings. It interests me because I have this vision of a post apocalyptic world where, sort of like "The Road", I'm one of the surviving few, except I'm an avid user of firearms. At this moment, Detroit is slowly turning into one of those dog eat dog world places. On average, the cops take 25 minutes to arrive at a destination, which is just utterly unacceptable . It doesn't affect me much. However, I may want to move there one day because I bet property values are the lowest they've ever been. Also, the private security details that patrol the streets get some good pay. Even though they're a bunch of vigilantes, I've still thought about doing it. More than me, this whole Detroit becoming a ghost town affects the world, but not completely in a bad way. Since everybody is moving out of Detroit, only the thugs are left. If the government just lets this go on, eventually, most of the thugs will kill each other off. However, America shouldn't have these types of things. Things where people have to fear for their life in their own home. Although I think it's a good idea to legally conceal carry a firearm, I don't think that everybody should be using it.

  11. http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/13/for-obama-going-positive-may-be-more-difficult-this-time/?hp#

the race for president is extremely important right now. Mitt Romney verses obama will be an interesting race. personally this is important to me because i dont want obama to win. This article states that to republicans it was nothing more than a "bait-and-switch". For liberals, they finally stepped it up a notch and are fighting back. I think this is important because in the next election i will be able to vote and i want to be knowledgeable about the subject before i just cast a vote because my parents do. This event effects the world in huge ways, the president is the person that is in charge of our country. We have to have a good experienced leader to run our country.

  12. Recently, 11 secret service agents were suspended. Apparently they were involved with some Colombian prostitutes. It amazes me that secret service agents could be so careless. They are supposed to be busy protecting the president, instead they were being naughty. Obviously this affects me a great deal because when I become president one day I'm going to want my secret service agents to protect me to the best of their ability. They can't really do that if they are distracted by Colombian prostitutes. This affects the world as a whole because that would be pretty serious if Obama were to get taken out because the secret service let him get killed.

  13. http://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/04/09/a-weight-loss-surgery-sends-some-to-canada/?ref=health

This article is interesting to me because I might want to be a doctor or a nurse when I am older. I have had trouble deciding what I want to major in in college, but I have always found health issue cool. It talks about the risks in putting a balloon in a persons stomach for weight loss. I think it is cool that if a person can not get a surgery done in one country then they can go to a different country to get it done. The article affected me because it showed me that I really do have an interest in medicine and health. It is important because it allows for people to have more options to get what they want done. It also tells people that the surgery has not been approved in the United States for a reason. I think people should think about that before they think about getting anything done. The procedure has a good idea behind it, but there are obvious risks like every other surgery and the surgery still does not have really good results. The article might not affect everyone in the world, but I think it could affect the people that are considering having a balloon put in their stomach for weight loss.

  14. The article I selected was so interesting to me because I have never heard of a person overcoming blindness in this manner. Straight from the title I was intrigued and wanted to read how this man went about teaching himself to see. Though I do not have family or friends that are blind it still pains me to see people who have to live without vision. Daniel Kish shows in this article great determination and perseverance. He makes me thankful for my vision and the ability to see hard work payoff. He was blind his whole life but still managed to go to normal public school and beat up kids. In college he wrote his thesis on what he'd been using his whole life to understand his surroundings. What he used is called echolocation. He now betters the world by showing people how to use the method to help people understand what's around them as well as he does. He is an inspiration to all and a hero in the blind community his efforts have helped many blind people have a better life. http://www.mensjournal.com/the-blind-man-who-taught-himself-to-see

  15. Anders Behring Breivik recently murdered 77 people. First, he bombed Oslo, Norway's government district killing eight people. Later, he massacred 69 people at a summer camp. Anders admitted to the criminal acts but does not believe he is guilty because he thinks he did the right thing. Anders is an extremist who hates muslim immigration into Europe. He believed that by killing innocent people he could somehow effect muslim immigration. This affects me because it is hard to judge this man as clinically insane (and live in a mental hospital) or just a cold blooded murderer who deserves death or life in prison. This type of case is extremely tricky for the legal system and people of the world to judge this man's fate. Obviously since he is responsible for such tragic events he needs to be banned out of society forever. Anyone capable of such horrors does not belong in the streets. I hope Anders soon feels guilt for his actions. Massacre of innocents is never right, no matter what you believe in.

  16. http://www.foxnews.com/world/2012/04/15/titanic-memorial-cruise-passengers-mark-anniversary-with-prayers-silence/

This past week marked the 100 year aniversary of Titanic's tragic sinking in the Atlantic. To many the Titanic is only known is an infamous maritime tragedy made famous in pop-culture by James Cameron's love story. To me that is how I viewed the Titanic, as a tragic love story between Rose and Jack Dawson. After reading this article it clicked in my mind that that the Titanic repersented more than that. It demonstrates the possibility of what human where capable of and the fault in believing we are superior to all things. It also allowed people this last weekend to remember the past. Some took this memorial journey as vacation other however where there to remember and honor the people in their family that had died aboard that ship.

  17. Chelsea’s season laid in tatters, their head coach shown the door and the assistant manager promoted. After a recent fun of good results, Chelsea came to face Tottenham in the Semi-Final of the FA cup. A rivalry stretching back into the past century meant a tense and one of the fiercest derby matches across Europe, and a mauling to go down in history followed in ninety minutes of heated football. Running out 5-1 winners, Chelsea danced from the field, their 42,000 fans in the stadium going ballistic and running wild. The celebrations that ensued in West London raised the level of merriment for this beleaguered London club and ensured that something could be rescued form this season. And almost 6,000 miles away, one seventeen year old high school English student cheered wildly and beat his chest in a ferocious fit of celebration. One historic victory that meant a whole to lot to me, and the 42,000 others who cram inside Stamford Bridge Stadium every time the blues take the field.

The photo tells how playful Angelina Jolie can be with her child. Her more loving side instead of her usual aggressive action side. The subjects are youthfully playing with each other almost as if the mother i a child herself. The son tries to hold her down and in reality he cannot, but she obliges her son by pretending to not be able to get away. This scene displays a childlike innocence. She actually left this photo to be very everyday with the perfect lighting. She took the image and made us see exactly what she saw in the room. Which sound easy but is much more difficult than you think. I like how she can see an everyday pose and keep it the way it is. She does not have to change a bunch to make an amazing photo. There is not just one thing i would want her to photograph. Life changes and if i chose one thing then i would be stuck with that one thing instead of maybe something else that has come about. She has a talent and should use to to capture as many things as she can.
